History

Todor Kableshkov University of Transport has a long tradition in organizing international scientific events in the field of transport, the first of which was held in 1988 under the name “Youth Scientific Session”.

In 1989, the Jubilee Scientific Session “100 Years of Railway Education in Bulgaria” was organized. In the following years, three scientific and technical sessions with international participation were held, and in 1994, a decision was made to switch to a common numbering of the conferences. In the period 1996-2001, the conferences were named with acronym “TEMPT”, composed of the first letters of the extended title “Technical and Economic Problems of Modern Transport”.

In 2001, the official name of the forum became “Transport”, with addition of the corresponding year of its holding. The first nine editions were annual, in the period 2001-2009, after which the Transport conference began to be held every two years, alternating with the more narrowly specialized scientific forums of the three faculties of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport. The number of papers, presented at each edition of the conference is over 100, in seven scientific areas, and since 2004 it is mandatory that all articles are reviewed in compliance with the principles of reviewer competence and author anonymity. The plenary sessions accompanying the official opening of the forum, include current presentations by both prominent researchers in the field of transport and business representatives. Traditionally, as part of the conference program, accompanying events are held: round tables, discussions on current topics, thematic sessions, project meetings.
